Keeping the Bay Clean is No Accident...

In the 1950s and 1960s, the San Francisco Bay was seriously polluted. Today, the Bay is much cleaner because wastewater treatment facilities clean water before it reaches the bay.

Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Year

In 1996 and in 2001, SBSA was named California "plant of the year" out of 1,400 treatment facilities by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA). The award honored SBSA for several technical achievements, operations, and innovations. A primary reason for the award was SBSA's style of empowering all employees to manage key decisions that effect the operations of the facility.
