Keeping the Bay Clean is No Accident...

In the 1950s and 1960s, the San Francisco Bay was seriously polluted. Today, the Bay is much cleaner because wastewater treatment facilities clean wastewater before it reaches the bay.

Support Services Department

The mission of the Support Services Department is to efficiently provide legal, financial, personnel, and administrative support to the Commission, Manager and Departments; and to present a positive and professional image of SBSA to the general public and the member agencies.

Maintenance Department

The Maintenance Department is a service and support function whose objective is to assure that all equipment and facilities operate in a reliable and safe manner through well planned and administered programs of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, replacement, and modification. A well-trained staff utilizing modern administrative and technical tools and skills implements the maintenance programs.

Operations Department

The mission of the Operations Department is to treat the wastewater of the member agencies economically and efficiently while meeting or exceeding all requirements of the NPDES permit with a stable, well trained work force monitoring and controlling process stability while striving to develop new and better operating methods.


Technical Services Department

The mission of the Technical Services Department is to provide analytical support for process control and regulatory compliance. The scientifically trained and technically experienced staff collects various samples from on site and in the field. Administers a Pretreatment Program controlling commercial and industrial users.
